Skateboarding for Autism

I have just read an Article about how a mother has found that skateboarding has proven to be an outlet for Autistic children to release there energy in a way that isn't a nightmare or a tantrum. This I believe is a prime example of how skateboarding doesn't always have to have a negative connotation. What this mother has discovered through this event could have been discovered much earlier but since most "non-skaters" look down on skating and they would have never imagined that it could have such a positive effect for children with this sort of disability. Although this says that it is therapeutic for Autistic children this is not the only case, I believe that it can be relieving for all children if they chose to do so. I think this because in the time that I have been skating I have found the greatest joy in landing the trick that I have been trying for days or even weeks. This joy has helped me overcome many downs and I have found that going to the skate park at the end of a long day and landing a few tricks that I have been trying has assisted me in overcoming struggles and downs in my life. So with this I believe that it is not only therapeutic for only Autistic children but It can be for anyone if they believe it can be.

Panther Creek News Story

This Article was a fairly good example of how the outlook of skaters has almost always had a negative connotation just because of a select few of them who try to make an attempt at destruction. Although I do understand what gives people this view on skaters but they have to understand that skateboarding is a hobby that isn't very popular and there aren't many places designed for skating. Yes there are skate parks but as this article said that this is such a creative and innovative sport those simple skate parks only have a certain span of those creative ideas and they cant put every sort of obstacle into a single park so there will always be a place that we will want to skate on the street at a school or in front of a house. Since there are these fun spots at these places there are people who will kick us out because yes we may be trespassing and yes we might get injured on your property but don't yell at us and get very mad I just ask that you ask calmly and be understanding because you may have to kick us out constantly but you have to understand that we get kicked out of fun spots the entire day and it is difficult to have fun skating when there aren't many places to skate.
